Cape Town will experience the excitement of the Barclays Premier League when the official fan park, Barclays Premier League Live, comes to the “Mother City”.
Fans of the beautiful game in South Africa will get the chance to see the Barclays Premier League Trophy, meet former players, get up close and personal with their teams and watch BPL matches live on a giant screen at Camps Bay High School on 19 and 20 March 2016 – all for free.
BPL Live Cape Town will be the third staging of the football roadshow that started in South Africa in April 2014 at Zoo Lake Sports Club, Johannesburg, for a memorable inaugural event. Pro Soccer were the Official Merchandise Suppliers at the event and said it was an unforgettable experience and hoped it would one day come to Cape Town…and now it is.
In December the same year BPL Live went to India, where more than 30,000 fans flocked to Mumbai.
“BPL Live is all about bringing the electrifying atmosphere of a Premier League match to our international fans,” said John Dykes, the lead presenter for Super Sports’ coverage of the Premier League, who will be hosting the event.
“The first ever BPL Live in Johannesburg reminded us just how passionate South African fans are about the Premier League.
“I can’t wait to see that the enthusiasm the Cape Town fans will bring to the park now that they’re getting their chance.”
Fans will get the opportunity to rub shoulders with Barclays Premier League Legends such as Robbie Fowler, Peter Schmeichel and Lucas Radebe and watch matches including Everton v Arsenal, Newcastle v Sunderland and Manchester City v Manchester United on a 118-square-metre screen.
As part of the Premier League’s commitment to inspiring sport participation in communities around the world, there will be a Premier Skills community coaching course run the week leading up to BPL Live at Grootbos Football Foundation.
On 17 March Barclays and the Premier League will also host a BPL Live Community Day with local partners.
Fans interested in attending should register at http://www.bpllive.com/ or by dialling *134*275#. Entry will be granted on a first come, first served basis, but all fans must register before entering.
